URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT

We request this to be delivered to the decision makers

We, with the highest degree of concern and pain, are watching the increasing military gatherings that the news announcing around the City of ethics and heritage, which has been the Capital of knowledge and education for centuries.

Therefore, we bring to your attention the holiness of that great City for us, the Shiite in particular and for the Muslims as a whole. Even more generally for the scholars and educated people around the world. That is because of what the city contents of:-

1-     The shrine of the greatest personality in Islam after the prophet of God, Mohammad, Imam Ali (peace be open him).

2-     The shrines of few of the previous prophets, that made the City not only a sacred site for Muslims but furthered to many of the past Heavenly revealed Religions.

3-     The graves of many of the important Islamic personalities since the beginning of the history of Islam until now.

4-     A lot of the humanity and knowledge heritage that is partly represented by the hand written antique books. They can be found on the book shelves that are present in houses and important libraries. This is because the book for the Najafi people is like air and water that no one can live without them. Moreover, sometimes they are further valuable for them than their own souls.

5-     The presence of some of the greatest scholars, teachers, poets and writers. So that every one of them is actually a special heritage and great character. And as  you know the first of them are the Grand Religious Authorities of the Shia sect that is spread all around the Globe, like, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Ali Al-Seestani, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Mohammad Sa`ed Al-Hakim, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ishac Al-Fayadh and Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Basheer Al-Najafi. These men do not represent a nation; rather, every one of them is a nation.

6-     Many very old Historical sites.

7-     It also contains many of the innocent people from men, women, elderly and children that the bitter taste of the oppression and big pressure, that have never decreased, is still in their mouths.

It is obvious for you that your attack on the Holy Najaf will have certain pressures on you, psychologically, religiously, intellectually, socially and politically. And it will remain as a shameful sticker on the forehead of the history.

It is possible that this will result in losing some of your friends, who even if they did not show it physically, they will feel it emotionally.

It is also possible that because of the City's position for the Almighty God and the pure intention of its innocent people that some of them may even turn towards God as Abdul Mutalib did – whose many descendants live there – and happens there similar to what happened to the army of Ibrahah, when he surrounded the Holy Mecca. This is only a reminder.

If the past evil Tikriti Tyrant, who has oppressed himself before others, did not pay attention to all of those values because of his ignorance and low understanding. We observe you as much higher personalities who are able to understand it, while you are the callers of the urbanism and civilization. You have as well repeatedly announced and still do that you have came to Iraq as liberators and not occupiers. This is one of the biggest situations of trouble that you can use to show the level of honesty of your statement.

Whatever taken by force of sword, it is possible to be gained many times more by dialogue, peace, patience and wisdom.
